about grassroots

Making Learning Fun

Educational Entertainment is any form of educational activity that has the intentional purpose of providing entertainment to all those who participate in it. These activities are often interactive and can have a lasting, positive impact.

Edutainment can be added to subject classes with the aim of socializing students to boost self-esteem, confidence and problem solving skills. Successful edutainment can be seen by the fact that learning becomes fun and teachers or speakers educate an audience in a manner which is both engaging and amusing. This theory was pioneered by Walt Disney  when he made a film to teach children about dental hygiene. Forms of educational entertainment include puzzles🧩, toys 🧸, television shows 📺, radio programs 📻 and software applications 💻.

At Grassroots, educational entertainment will be used to build students’ interest in the English language. English language proficiency will be broken down into three areas of reading, writing and speaking. There will be short courses offered during the summer ☀️ and winter ❄️ holidays which will boost reading levels, writing styles and communicative competency. Furthermore there will year long courses which will work along with students’ school curricula to improve school grades 📚.
